An Amazing Team by Your Side
Walden Aventure, in partnership with La Clinique Du Coureur, opens the doors to Japan, a country whose culture and iconic landscapes fascinate and transport. This destination marks a new experiential chapter. With running as its common thread, this sporting, educational and cultural trip is designed for health and training professionals, as well as passionate runners.
Did you know that, after East African runners, the Japanese rank among the best-performing marathoners in the world?
Often little known in the West, Japan's running culture rests on an almost ascetic discipline. Built around universities and corporate teams, it prizes performance and grants athletes genuine social standing — even though competition is especially fierce.
To complete your immersion in this wonderful country that inspires so many, we have designed an itinerary that takes you from the vibrant capital of Tokyo to Mount Hiei (a sacred mountain and centre of Tendai Buddhism), by way of Hakone — a hot-spring resort nestled between lake and mountains — and unmissable Kyoto, Japan's true cultural cradle.
The arrival of autumn will make your trip all the more memorable, a season renowned for the beauty of its blazing maples, perfect for contemplation.
In this land of contrasts, we have chosen to explore one of its most singular expressions: its relationship with running. Far more than a sport, in Japan it is a true way of life, shaped by rigour, perseverance and quiet self-transcendence. The practice is part of a collective tradition in which individual effort serves the group.
More than a simple sports and sightseeing program, this themed trip offers a complete experience, in which physical activity becomes a lens for understanding Japanese culture and enriching your own practice.
