In July, the Canadian Rockies offer some of their best conditions for outdoor activities such as trail running. Expect warm, sunny days, with average temperatures ranging from 20 °C to 24 °C (68–75 °F) in areas such as Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper.
Higher elevations are cooler, especially in the morning and evening, and temperatures can drop quickly if clouds roll in or as you climb — so it's best to dress in layers, including a light down jacket and a waterproof jacket.
Endurance can be much more than effort: a language for reading the mountains and reading yourself. From alpine summits to the wild trails of Western Canada, Marc Vaillancourt has forged a path where performance goes hand in hand with meaning. A hiking guide (ACMG) and ultra-trail runner, he knows the fine ridgeline between ambition and clear-headedness; a physical education teacher, he turns every route into a living lesson — accessible and motivating. His signature? Holistic coaching (he is studying naturopathy) that blends running technique, pacing, mindset, nutrition and recovery, so you progress with as much intelligence as drive.
Based in Vancouver, he works with Inspire Trail Expeditions to design premium, flexible trail & wellness trips, where we move forward together — safely, serenely and joyfully — to trace your own ridgeline and come home with lasting confidence.
